The
delicate stainless steel tourbillon bridge, under which eighty-four components of the revolving escapement defying gravity are found, takes two days alone to be
finished and decorated. The chain that wraps around the fusee is itself made up of more than 600 parts. The entire movement, not including the above-mentioned chain,
comprises 465 individual components, including forty-three jewels, two of which are diamond end stones and six of which are embedded in screw-mounted gold chatons.
This
micro turbo machine will be offered in a platinum, rose gold or white gold 41.2mm case in a limited edition of 101 pieces that will take almost the next fifteen
years to complete-just about the same amount of time that this project needed to mature fully and be presented to the public. The first fifty-one pieces of the
Tourbograph will be made in platinum, with the second series of fifty pieces in gold.
The
Lange manufacture Caliber L903.0 is manually wound and contains all the elements that connoisseurs have come to know and love in a timepiece made by A. Lange &
Söhne. Its 30mm diameter comprises plates and bridges made of untreated German silver, assembled twice for complete accuracy and aesthetic purposes, and features
a chronograph bridge that has been hand-engraved.
The
Tourbograph possesses a power reserve of
thirty-six
hours when fully wound
and beats
with a frequency of
21,600 bph.
This masterpiece will retail for $460,000, though one can say with certainty that this proud price will hardly deter Lange's loyal following of collectors.
