“The idea for this series arose when a customer requested that we match the engraving for a pair of shotguns,” explained Nashan. “He wanted to have a display-back watch, so he suggested that we match the gun's scrollwork to the watchcase and put the wildlife scene on the dial.”

The new series
For Nashan and the Montana Watch Company, that request was the catalyst for this whole new series of hand-engraved watches.
Employing the dial for design and representational work became the perfect way for Montana to leave no surface of its watches without personalization. Through the sapphire crystal caseback one can still view the detailing on the movement. While telling the time, one can also enjoy a wildlife scene on the dial.
Montana customers can provide photos or request particular images or scenes which Montana will then hand-cut onto a dial of either silver, gold or titanium in Banknote or Bulino styles of engraving.

Dial markers can be gemstones set in platinum bezels, 24-karat gold dial brad heads, or flush-cut precious metals. Overlays, inlays and precious gem settings are also available. Prices will be set per order based on chosen watch model and the extent of engraving work desired. The first series debuted at Axel's of Vail – with more to come.
