old name and is now one of Switzerland's
primary makers of high-end complications

La Joux-Perret is not a company to dwell on the past' and neither is its dynamic
managing director' Frédéric Wenger. Nor is this company a Johnny-come-lately'
looking to make a fast buck in the watch industry at the height of the current mechanical
craze. This is a company with a tradition that also happens to be an important behind-the-scenes player.
 Though
many readers may not have heard the name La Joux-Perret' they may have heard of Jaquet S.A.
This was a name that was often mentioned in watch press and general Swiss press in late 2003' thanks
to its founder and former owner Jean-Pierre Jaquet' whose scandalous arrest for participation in what
became known as the “Jaquet affair'” which included counterfeit watches' robbery and
theft' was unprecedented in the Swiss watch industry–topped only perhaps by the press
surrounding one of Jaquet's first and most loyal clients, Franck Muller, at nearly the same time. |
