As
is clear on the realization seen here, the typical RM case has been given very different detailing
and even the trademark screws have given way to their nautical counterparts.
The
carbon nanofiber baseplates of the V2 series movements are also present, as well as the
power-reserve and torque indicators, although they have been given a new placement
in the movement. Clear signs of the Perini Navi connection are the use of the Italian C
(Carica- winding), N (Neutrale- neutral) and L (Lancette- winding) on the function
indicator in place of the W, N and H that is usually found on the RM 002-V2
and 003-V2 tourbillons.
Gold microballs playfully flow
inside the rotor of the RM 007. |

In
the final drawings that were only finished in mid-February, even the tourbillon cage profile and
various bridges had shapes inspired by Perini Navi yacht detailing. Most visually striking is perhaps
the crown that has the shape of a windlass or winch.
Integrating
new impulses such as these, while still ringing true within the context of the essential Richard
Mille concepts, shows perhaps that Richard Mille’s watches are moving out of the garage and even
more into the limelight. Whatever the future may hold, the coming years will certainly be exciting
for the development of Richard Mille, and there is plenty in store for watch lovers around the world
to look forward to.
