First, Michel Parmigiani created a palladium-cased,
skeletonized Hebdomadaire eight-day watch in his Kalpa collection, to celebrate his three decades
at the bench. But that was unveiled in the early part of the year (see International Watch,
June 2006, page 143), and clearly there’s more time to celebrate.
Now,
part two of the thirtieth birthday celebration is open for awe. It’s a 30-second-tourbillon
Chiaroscuro model, which Parmigiani especially dedicates to his chosen field, haute horlogerie.
This
timekeeper combines all the aesthetic and technical qualities that Parmigiani Fleurier wanted
to honor. Its movement, Calibre PF 501, was initially inspired by the 7-day mechanical
movement PF 110 (also used in the earlier skeleton version). Entirely hand-made in the Parmigiani
Fleurier workshops, it underlines technical expertise, technology and attractiveness.
